Rhibosome

A 10 track electropop album (1h 57s) — released October 17th 2005 on Freestyle Records
Rhibosome are Dave McKinney (aka Freestyle's Flow Dynamics), Clayton Chipper, Andrew Selmes, Chad Hedley and George Nikoloudis. Formed at the end of the nineties in their home town of Perth, Australia the band have become a big live draw in their home country. Back in 1998 and a few of the Rhibosome players were busy performing in a Perth street theatre percussion group called Whak, spending their time touring arts festivals around the world including visits to Canada and Singapore. In between utilising wheelie bins as percussion instruments and discovering samplers and drum machines the friends began work creating a live electronic soundscape for the urban circus company, Bizircus. Eventually these tracks started morphing into more of a live set and, after bringing a few more players to the mix, Rhibosome was officially born. Melding live instrumentation with sampled based loops and electronic effects their live show takes in hip hop, funk, house, breakbeat and drum and bass: all of which can be found on this album. Aside from their own shows they have supported acts such as Coldcut, Faithless, Groove Armada, The Freestylers, Rae & Christian, Faze Action, Norman Jay, Resin Dogs, Adam Freeland, The Freestylers, Aphrodite, Ben Harper, The Scratch Perverts and many others. Their debut single on UK based Freestyle Records 'Impulse' became an instant dancefloor classic: now in high demand since the pressing plant lost the master tapes. The flipside 'Get Ready', an old school party hip hop/breaks throwdown won plays from DJs such as Mr. Scruff, The Fort Knox Five, Ashley Beedle, Kenny Dope, Gilles Peterson & Patrick Forge. Both tracks, as well as the follow up singles 'Walkin' and 'Hi Fi' are available once again on this album.'
