When The Sun Goes Down

A 2 track funk single (7m 15s) — released September 17th 2007 on Freestyle Records

Riding the crest of the current wave of funk cover versions (see Mark Ronson et al) Freestyle wunderkind number one, Lack Of Afro, steps up with his contribution to the pot. Taken from his debut album, “When The Sun Goes Down†is his take on everybody’s favourite Northern scallies, The Arctic Monkeys, finest hour. Staying close to the original but stamping his trademark heavy drums and “in the red†production style all over it, as well as guest appearances from members of The New Mastersounds he really makes the track his own. An instantly recognisable dancefloor favourite. Over on the flip is a vinyl exclusive cover of Dusty Springfield's "Spooky" again given a dirty scuzzy funk workover... just check those breaks! Already attracting attention from Mark Lamarr, who's mind was blown by the young producer, we're sure you'll find plenty to get your teeth into here.
