FAST MAN - TWO NOTE BROWN

A 2 track funk single (2m 26s) — released July 4th 2005 on Freestyle Records

Yorkshire's very own keepers of the funk The New Mastersounds deliver 2 exclusive and unreleased tracks for Freestyle as a taster for the forthcoming 'Stay On The Groove' compilation. Compiled by label head Adrian Gibson, the album features 20 of the finest new heavy funk tracks from artists such as Quantic, Breakestra, Poets of Rhythm and Speedometer. As a taster, we've decided to release these 2 juicy nuggets on a DJ friendly 45. Enjoy! Two-Note Brown is a 'live remix' of the Mastersounds first single 'One Note Brown'. Pacier and dirtier than the original, this was recorded around the time of their first album and has been hidden in the vaults ever since. Likewise for 'Fast Man' on the flip: a heavy cover of an old obscure funk track introduced to the band by Keb Darge and featuring an extended line up including Cleve Freckleton on vocals and the Haggis Horns brass section.'

Whoa! This is some real fonk bizniss by one of the Uks finest "new funk" combos?an organic-heavy invitation to dancefloor craziness with a killer Meters-style guitar breakdown. Hell, I'm even dancing while I write this! 5/5 - Matt Anniss IDJ

Straight outta God?s Chosen County (that?s Yorkshire for the map readers), a couple of big willy funk-n-furious get-downs let today?s tastemakers know what?s up. ?Two Note Brown? epitomises golden era principles for wet-behind-the-ears funk finders, and ?Fast Man? is an update from beyond the vaults, propelled by a blood relative bassline to ?White Lines? and horns to set hearts racing. **** - Matt Oliver Update
