Sweeping Tom (feat. Thomas Hass)
A 3 track latin & world jazz single (16m 14s) — released April 30th 2007 on Freestyle Records
The Society is the brainchild of Danish jazz composer Thomas Hass Christiensen - composer, arranger and saxophonist and touring member of the globe trotting Senor Coconut ensemble. Marrying authentic jazz instrumentation and structure to computer based production, the outift focus their love of all things soulful - be it house, hip hop or jazz - to create a truly unique and heartfelt style. Taken from their second album “HeavyMightyMoodyGroovyâ€, these three tracksshow the rich and varied style on offer.
"Sweeping Tom" is a deep and moving jazz-meets-house number with its infectious sliced bass line and brass riffs that sounds like a St. Germain record produced by Jazzanova. "God Speed" slows the pace for some stark jazz-hop style with Ovasoul 7 returning to vocal duties, whereas “What He Needs to Know†is a slab of space-soul-funk featuring Stones Throw’s cosmic pairing of Georgia Anne Muldrow (who blew heads with her recent “Olesi: Fragments of Earth†albumâ€) and hip hop crooner Dudley Perkins.
