New Cool Collective was born in 1994 when eight musicians ignited the Amsterdam club scene and then set fire to the rest of the Dutch music scene, spreading the heat rapidly to international festivals. Winning the Edison Jazz Award in 2000 (the Dutch Grammy) and touring extensively, the band's steaming mix of highly danceable soul and jazz spiced with Latin flavors has turned on clubbers and jazz buffs alike. Their previous single on Freestyle Records 'Perry/Conga Ye Ye' made a massive splash on dancefloors wordlwide, with DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and Mr Scruff all giving it the thumbs up (there was even reports of it getting a round of applause when played in its entirety at a certain club!). After being on the road for the best part of a decade (lighting up venues such as The Jazz Café and the North Sea Jazz, Edinburgh Fringe, Roskilde, Lowlands and Hungarian Sgizet Festivals) the band managed to hook up with the legendary Afro-beat drummer Tony Allen, who they managed to coax back to their studio for a jam. What you have in your hands are just 2 of the tracks from this session - 'One More Time' and 'The Trip': to be released on 12' on the 6th February 2005.'
