From the tangled streets of New York comes Kokolo, a big band with plenty of energy. Formed in 2001 when bands like Antibalas and The Daktaris were creating a vibrant Afro-beat scene in NY, they combine influences of Fela's funky African grooves, or more Latin orientated sounds. This twelve also includes Richy Pitch's rework of 'Candela', giving it more of a nu-jazz / West London touch. Hot!'

"More top flight music from the prolific Freestyle lable with this Afro Funk monster. A gorgeous rolling rhythm punctuated with tight horns, drum breaks and percussion, and a trance-y guitar riff to pull it along. Love it!" - jellyjazz.com
